Solana Foundation Signs MOU With Kazakhstan, Launches Economic Zone
Solana is expanding its influence by partnering with nation states. According to the official X account of the project, Solana has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Republic of Kazakhstan, pioneering this kind of partnership in Central Asia.
The arrangement comes as part of the launch of a Solana Economic Zone in the country, aiming to kickstart Kazakhstan as a blockchain enclave in the region. The government has stated that the launch of such zones is a powerful accelerator for technological advances, mentioning the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) Crypto Centre as an example.
Minister of Digital Development, Innovation, and Aerospace Industry Zhaslan Madiyev highlighted the relevance of this for the wider crypto ecosystem. He stated:
The economic zone will seek to advance Web3 tech in the country in three key aspects, using Solana’s tech to this end.
The development of tokenized capital markets is one of these elements. AIX, Solana Foundation, Jupiter, and Intebix will partner to develop a pilot to bring tokenized instruments to the country’s traditional markets.
Fostering a community of Web3 developers is another of the pillars of this partnership. The Ministry and the Solana Foundation agreed to launch an educational program to incubate Web3 talent with the help of local universities that will teach Rust courses.
Finally, the partnership also entails the creation of conditions for blockchain businesses to settle in Kazakhstan, developing infrastructure access, regulatory support, and business incentives to entice these companies to establish in the country.
