DOGE ETF is coming? Bitwise confirms: registration documents have been submitted
Digital asset management company Bitwise has officially filed for registration with the state of Delaware, preparing to launch the first DOGE (DOGE) ETF. The above news was confirmed by Bitwise's Chief Investment Officer Matt Hougan himself, who revealed to the foreign media: 'Yes, this is the application we submitted.'
Matt Hougan said on Wednesday that Bitwise had submitted the registration documents for 'Bitwise DOGE ETF' to the Delaware Department of Corporations earlier that day.
DOGE was born in 2013, created by software engineers Billy Markus and Jackson Palmer. Initially, it was just a humorous satire of the traditional financial system, but it unexpectedly developed into a globally renowned meme coin. Especially after the establishment of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under the Trump administration, the popularity of DOGE surged again.
What's even more interesting is that a few days ago, the official website of this department quietly displayed the classic Shiba Inu logo of DOGE, triggering endless speculation in the market: Is DOGE's influence going from memes to mainstream?
In fact, the market has long anticipated that companies will apply to launch DOGE ETFs. 'I'm actually surprised that there hasn't been a company applying for a DOGE ETF,' said Nate Gercai, President of ETF Store, in a post on January 15th. He further pointed out:
DOGE is already the 7th largest cryptocurrency in the world. The worst case scenario is that the issuing company loses a marketing expense. But in the best case scenario, the SEC might approve it, and it could ride the wave of Musk's promotion.
In addition, there have been recent reports that SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce will lead a cryptocurrency project team. Matt Mena, the cryptocurrency research strategist at 21Shares, commented:
The new cryptocurrency project team led by Hester Peirce may accelerate the approval of more cryptocurrency ETFs, such as Solana (SOL), Ripple (XRP), Litecoin (LTC), Polkadot (DOT), and DOGE (DOGE).
Will we see a 'DOGE ETF' in 2025? Experts say so...
