The Czech government is facing a vote of no confidence crisis due to a massive Bitcoin auction.
According to Gate News bot, the largest opposition party in the Czech Republic called for a vote of no confidence against the government on Thursday, accusing it of corruption in handling a $45 million Bitcoin transaction. This batch of Bitcoin came from a convicted criminal.
The Vice Chairman of the right-wing ANO party, Alena Schillerova, stated on social media that they have no choice but to submit a motion of no confidence, which is scheduled to be voted on next Tuesday.
The Czech Ministry of Justice previously announced that they sold nearly 500 Bitcoins at an auction on May 28 for 1 billion Czech korunas (approximately 45 million USD). These digital currencies originally belonged to Tomas Jirikovsky, a criminal who was convicted in 2017 for operating an online black market, embezzlement, drug trafficking, and violations of weapon regulations.
