The Obol network is a milestone for Ethereum.
The platform ultimately transitioned from a proof-of-work consensus mechanism to a proof-of-stake. This change significantly reduced the carbon footprint of the Ethereum network (by about 99.98%) and created a new way to secure the network by staking ETH.
The core of Obol is to create a low-cost risk management software for Ethereum stakers, which has two core functions:
Reduce the risk of "cutting" and the risk of revenue loss due to validator downtime.
Obol Network is an ecosystem for ETH 2.0 staking that enables individuals to create, test, launch, and coordinate validator clusters using distributed validator technology (DVT) for secure staking.
Obol's strategic partner project has received $18.65 million in funding led by top institutions such as Pantera Capital, Coinbase Ventures, and Ethereum Venture.
DVT is a technical primitive that allows for the deployment of Ethereum PoS validators using multiple nodes.
After the Ethereum Shanghai upgrade, DVT technology may become one of the most popular technologies. By using DVT, individuals can easily become validators, potentially making significant contributions to the decentralization of Ethereum nodes.
In simple terms, DVT (Distributed Validator Technology) allows a group of people to act as "validator security guards," sharing responsibilities and reducing risks.
Normal node: 1 person manages 1 machine, needing to achieve consensus and execution, facing immense pressure.
DVT nodes: Multiple people manage multiple machines, working together with a division of labor, and as long as the majority agrees, the task can be completed.
Benefits of DVT:
More stable: Not afraid of single point failures, the network is more resilient.
Safer: Hackers would need to compromise multiple machines at the same time to cause trouble.
More decentralized: ordinary people can participate in staking at a low cost, without relying entirely on large institutions.
