Central Bank clarifies: Digital RMB is still in testing and has not been officially issued.

Recently, the Digital Currency Research Institute of the People's Bank of China announced its latest progress. They stated that the information related to the digital renminbi circulating online is only for testing content in the technical development stage and does not represent that the digital renminbi has been officially issued. The ongoing closed testing will not affect the daily operations of Financial Institutions, nor will it impact the renminbi circulation system, financial markets, and the overall economy outside the testing scope.

It is reported that the research and development of the digital renminbi is progressing steadily. Based on maintaining a dual-layer operation, replacing M0 currency, and achieving controllable anonymity, the digital renminbi system has basically completed key aspects such as top-level design, standard formulation, function development, and system joint debugging. Following the principles of stability, safety, controllability, innovation, and practicality, the digital renminbi is currently undergoing internal closed pilot tests in Shenzhen, Suzhou, Xiong'an New Area, Chengdu, and future Winter Olympic scenarios. These tests aim to continuously optimize and improve various functions of the digital renminbi.
