France has recorded another attack targeting cryptocurrency users. A 23-year-old man was kidnapped in Maisons-Alfort, a suburb of Paris, and held for several hours. The kidnappers demanded that the victim's girlfriend hand over 5,000 euros in cash along with the access key to a Ledger hardware wallet containing an unknown amount of cryptocurrency. According to Le Parisien, the criminals used violence to force the victim to disclose information about his digital assets. He was released in the town of Créteil, and so far no one has been arrested. The incident is part of a series of cryptocurrency-related crimes in France, where some victims have been tortured to reveal their recovery phrases. In May, three unidentified individuals attempted to kidnap the daughter and grandson of the CEO of the Paymium exchange to seize digital assets.
