According to the agreement, Tether will evaluate the possibility of integrating its stablecoin USD₮ and gold-backed digital token XAU₮ into the local government payment gateway Zanmalipo in Zanzibar to enhance the accessibility of the regional financial ecosystem.

Both parties plan to organize educational seminars on topics such as Blockchain, Bitcoin, and stablecoins, and collaborate with local academic institutions to incorporate Blockchain technology into the educational framework.

Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino stated that this collaboration marks a transition for the Zanzibar digital asset ecosystem from informal exploration to structured growth, laying the foundation for a compliant, scalable, and inclusive digital economy.

Said Seif Said, the Director General of the Zanzibar e-Government Authority, emphasized that this cooperation will enable Zanzibar to leverage the opportunities brought by the popularization of digital assets, promoting public participation and legal system reform.
