Akave Cloud Launches Decentralized Data Layer on Avalanche L1
Akave has launched a decentralized storage network called Akave Cloud on a dedicated Avalanche Layer 1 blockchain. This platform is designed to meet the needs of decentralized artificial intelligence (AI), decentralized physical infrastructure networks, and compliance-focused software as a service.
Redefining Cloud Storage with Onchain Logic
A decentralized storage network, Akave, has deployed its decentralized data layer on a dedicated Avalanche Layer 1 (L1) blockchain. This platform, known as Akave Cloud, is engineered to meet the demanding requirements of decentralized artificial intelligence (AI), Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Networks (DePIN), and compliance-focused software as a service (SaaS).
Akave Cloud challenges the traditional approach to cloud services. Instead of relying on centralized systems, Akave Cloud anchors all storage logic — including uploads, reads, and permissions — directly to smart contracts. This means every interaction is meticulously recorded on-chain, providing tamper-proof audit trails and ensuring full data sovereignty without sacrificing performance or usability.
Remarking on Akave’s decision to deploy on Avalanche, co-founder and CEO Stefaan Vervaet said, “What drew us to Avalanche was more than just the technology — it was the alignment. Their ecosystem shares our focus on enterprise-grade infrastructure.”
Vervaet also told Bitcoin.com News that by introducing a decentralized storage and data layer with verifiable audit trails, Akave “creates data gravity that attracts DePIN networks, agentic AI pipelines and data-intensive applications.”
According to a statement, Akave Cloud is already gaining traction, with teams like Intuizi, The Defiant, and Heurist.ai leveraging its capabilities. Notably, it’s the first decentralized storage system to integrate with Snowflake, empowering analytics teams to utilize familiar tools while transitioning to a verifiable, decentralized infrastructure.
Running on its dedicated Avalanche L1, Akave Cloud taps into Avalanche’s core strengths, including EVM compatibility, sub-second finality, and customizable chain logic. These features, the statement added, are crucial for real-time, data-intensive applications, ensuring robust and efficient operation.
Akave also provides a hosted deployment option, which can slash infrastructure overhead and deliver up to 80% cost savings compared to traditional cloud providers, all while maintaining the benefits of on-chain transparency and control.
Meanwhile, Justin Fiddes, a senior ecosystem growth associate at Ava Labs, characterized Akave as a strategic win for Avalanche because “it is the first decentralized storage DePIN network to launch as a standalone Avalanche L1.” Explaining why collaboration with Avalanche is important for Akave, Fiddes said:
He added that Akave has developed an S3-compatible storage solution that is a verified Data Lake partner of Snowflake. This solution operates on decentralized, global storage, offering high redundancy and service-level agreements comparable to those provided by Hyperscale cloud services.
